State Team Training – June 12th and 13th

If you are an improving player and would like to participate in the state team training classes, reserve this weekend in June to do so. While State Team members are obligated to attend this training, it has been the custom of the TBA to make the training available free of charge to any member who wishes to participate in it. The training this year will be conducted by Justin Mill who has represented Australia on several occasions. It will be held at the TBA commencing at 10.00am on Saturday June 12th and on Sunday morning at 9.30 am. Players with an intermediate level of experience or above would most benefit from attending these sessions although no-one will be excluded.

Thursday Morning Bridge

Last year, as a result of popular demand it was determined that 24 boards would be played on Thursday mornings. There was a request this year that an additional 3 boards be played in this session. Following multiple representations to the committee on this topic, and after due consideration, the TBA Committee has decided that 24 sessions is sufficient for Thursday mornings, allowing the session to generally conclude by 12.30pm. For those who wish to play a great number of boards, there are sessions on Thursday afternoon as well as Wednesday and Friday mornings which offer this.

Entertainment Book

For many years, TBA Members who enjoy dining out, have purchased the Entertainment Book through the TBA. A proportion of the cost of the purchase has gone to the TBA and useful funds have been raised from that purchase. The Entertainment Book (like many other things!) has now gone digital. A big thank you to Jill Kilburn who has taken over managing our account from Jane Tyson and who has been working with the Entertainment Book to manage this transition on behalf of our members. Jill says that the new product looks good with additional products and services being offered. There is also an option to purchase an Australia Wide version for those who travel interstate from time to time. We will soon be sending an email to all our members about the Entertainment Book which will have links provided to ensure that if you do wish to take out a digital subscription, that the TBA sill receives a proportion of your payment.

Building Extensions

Work is about to start on the digging of the “Test Pit” for the Contaminated land report required as part of the process toward the construction of our club extensions. Part of our car park will be cordoned off during this process, and there will be some loud noise from time to time. We ask for patience and co-operation from our members during this process.

Member Information

The committee has resolved to modify the Member Application form to collect some important additional information such as an Emergency Contact. We will also be asking our existing members for emergency contact details to be retained by the club for use if required.
